MannaMarket – A USDA Food Hub (Hybrid); is listed by the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS); which also operates an Organic Food Cooperative (CO-OP) which organizes Picks Up locations and or Delivers to customers, as requested.
We work with other associated Farms/Ranches, to the smaller local individual farmers and producers, in getting their product to market in many ways, such as from farm to schools, to market, to the table and other procedures. We work with producers to become GAP Certified, as well as other certifications available.
We are a Non Profit Organic Cooperative (CO-OP) and Food Hub. We are now a Food Hub recognized by the USDA AMS, and soon we will ship nationwide. We are Licensed by the Alabama Department of Agriculture as a Cooperative; we have a Growers Permit Issued by the State of Alabama and issued Farm Number 2316 Tract # 9475 issued by USDA – National Resources and Conservation Service. We affiliate with over 60 growers throughout the USA and South America to bring All Organic Produce and Organic Specialty Products to our CO-OP Members year round.
In addition, the company is also considered a Hybrid/Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) system, which actually farms its lands and utilizes farming methods of Bio Dynamic procedures, emphasizing holistic development and interrelationships of the soil, plants and animals as a self-sustaining system and sustainable approach to agronomy. Further, it places an emphasis on growing multiple assortment of Herbs for its customers and other consumers.
Biodynamics has much in common with other organic approaches to farming – it emphasizes the use of manures and composts and excludes the use of artificial chemicals on soil and plants. Methods unique to the bio-dynamic approach include its treatment of animals, crops, and soil as a single ecosystem; an emphasis from its beginnings on local production and distribution systems; its use of traditional and development of new local breeds and varieties; and the use of a sowing and planting calendar. We use various herbal and mineral additives for compost and field sprays.
